Dance Company & Ensembles
Dance Company is an elite competitive team of versatile dancers who possess strong Ballet, Lyrical/ Contemporary, and Jazz Technique.
Company dancers receive additional opportunities to perform at community events and regional dance competitions, attend dance conventions as a group, and develop even more life long friendships with dance families at the studio.
Dance Company is divided into 5 competitive teams:
Minis, Petites, Juniors,
Junior Elite, & Seniors
Dancers have the opportunity to audition for Dance Company in April/May and August. Selected dancers will be placed on one of the 5 teams based on their audition and teacher evaluation. If your child is interested in auditioning, please email our office to schedule.
"What are the benefits for my dancer of joining Dance Company?
Dance Company prepares dancers to perform in college dance programs across the country. DDA Alumni dance in programs at University of Maryland College Park, Slippery Rock, Towson University Dance Department, and Point Park University. Dance Company prepares young people to be confident leaders in their community. They learn to collaborate, share ideas and develop team-building skills that carry over into the real world.
"What is the additional commitment level for my family?"
Most company dancers take between 2-4 classes per week in addition to a weekly rehearsal on Friday evenings, depending on the age of the dancer. We offer a Parent Zoom meeting in the Spring to answer questions about our Dance Company program including costs associated with being a part of Dance Company.
"What additional events do Dance Company members perform at?"
Dance Company competes at 3 regional dance competitions each season. Most notably, Dance Company performs in our Annual Holiday Musical! Past Holiday Musicals include The Polar Express, The Grinch, and Elf. There are opportunities to perform at select community events, including The Cape St. Claire Strawberry Festival and at local nursing homes in the Annapolis/Arnold area.
Davy Dance Academy offers a preparation company for dancers who aim to join our Elite Dance Company. Is your child particularly interested in Irish Dance or Tap? We have special ensembles focusing on these dance styles! Company Lite and Ensemble dancers are selected by teacher recommendation and/or audition.
Mini Dance Company
Minis Dance Company is a part of our elite competition team for intermediate dancers ages 4-7 years old. These young dancers will receive a multitude of competition performances and other community outreach performances. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful on our Mini Dance Company.
Mini Dance Elite
Mini Elite Dance Company is a part of our elite competition team for intermediate dancers ages 6-8 years old. These young dancers will receive a multitude of competition performances and other community outreach performances. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful on our Mini Dance Company.
Junior Company
Junior Dance Company is a part of our elite competition team for intermediate dancers ages 8-12 years old. These young dancers will receive a multitude of competition performances and other community outreach performances. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful in our Junior Dance Company.
Junior Elite
Junior Elite Dance Company is a part of our elite competition team for intermediate dancers ages 10 - 13 years old. These young dancers will receive a multitude of competition performances and other community outreach performances. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful in our Junior Elite Dance Company.
Senior Company
Senior Dance Company is a part of our elite competition team for intermediate dancers ages 13 - 18 years old. These young dancers will receive a multitude of competition performances and other community outreach performances. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful in our Senior Dance Company.
Acro Team
Acro team is an elite group of dancers who exhibit strengths in acro and dance technique. These young dancers will compete in regional competition(s), Annual Holiday Musical, community outreach performances and Annual Recital in June. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful on our Acro Team.
Hip Hop Crew
Hip Hop Crew is an elite group of dancers who exhibit strengths in Hip Hop dance technique and performance. These young dancers will compete in regional competition(s), Annual Holiday Musical, community outreach performances and Annual Recital in June. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful in our HIp Hop Crew Ensemble.
Irish Ensemble
Irish Ensemble is an elite group of dancers who exhibit strengths in Irish dance technique. These young dancers will compete in regional competition(s), Annual Holiday Musical, Annapolis St. Patrick’s Day Parade, community outreach performances and Annual Recital in June. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful in our Irish Ensemble.
Tap Ensemble
Tap Ensemble is an elite group of dancers who exhibit strengths in Tap dance technique. These young dancers will compete in regional competition(s), Annual Holiday Musical, dance convention, community outreach performances and Annual Recital in June. Dancers are required to take specific technique classes that will aid your dancer in being successful in our Tap Ensemble.
